1277 - The Cult of the Blue Eon is formed as a secretive group of occultists dedicated to ‘ushering in the new world’ by ‘unleashing the cleansing fires of raw mystical energy’. They spend the next several centuries consolidating their occult knowledge and power while remaining unknown to the world at large.
Early 2000s - Members of The Cult of the Blue Eon finally rise to the highest positions of political and social power in many nations across the world, influencing policy in accordance with their ultimate goal.
2023 - The Second American Civil War, orchestrated by The Cult of the Blue Eon sends ripples throughout the world; alliances fall, tenuous peace treaties held in place by the global American military presence are destroyed, and rival superpowers seize upon the opportunity to acquire more power in accordance with the Cult’s plans.
2027 - M-Day; with widespread unrest developing quickly into outright global war, the Cult is finally able to put their plan into motion. Cult leaders of nuclear-capable nations arrange carefully targeted strikes across the globe. These strikes trigger the bursting open of the nexus points and the events that would change the world forever.
2029 - The Old One sires the first seven vampires; they settle in Eastern Europe and quietly grow their number.
2027 - 2039 - The Chaos Years. Humanity struggles both to survive the fallout of the nuclear exchanges and to adapt to the fundamentally changed world they now live in. Magical races attempt to find their place. As the national governments have fallen, local and regional governments take their place in an attempt to restore order. Magic is studied intently by those with the knowledge and ability to study it.
2040 - Magic’s potential as a usable power source is explored in depth for the first time. The terms bluewave energy, liquid blue, and bluestone begin to see mainstream use. Bluewave energy is rapidly adopted as a new primary power source and triggers the Age of Rebirth, the mass rebuilding of cities and recovery from the devastation of the apocalypse.
2043 - The remaining settlements in the former UK are united under the Seelie Court of the Fae as the nation of New Tairngire. It quickly becomes one of the most advanced and powerful nations in the world, and a model for recovery in the Age of Rebirth.
2044 - The Unseelie Court is ousted from New Tairngire. They cross the ocean to seek their fortunes in North America, following lines of mystical power that lead them to what will become the Midnight City. Survivors have attempted to carve a life out of the ruins, but bloody faction wars have halted their progress. The Unseelie establish themselves and begin to scheme.
2048 - The Unseelie Court finally unites the factions. The former faction heads are chosen to establish the new government. The city is named, by the Court, Mag Duinn.
2056 - Mag Duinn is livable again and grows exponentially. People from surrounding regions start to migrate towards the city, drawn in by the promise of progress and safety. In the shadows of its rising towers, it is dubbed the Midnight City.
2058 - Gordian-Allod International is founded. The company gets its start in real estate, construction, and energy. They are responsible for the vast majority of Midnight City's growth and evolution. They are also just another arm of the Unseelie Court.
2095 - The High Council of Vampires allies with the Western Slav Republic, offering them manpower and expertise in exchange for food and protection.
2103 - A man calling himself The Golden Emperor rises to prominence among the scattered peoples of what was once China. He becomes a unifier, defeats all challengers, and declares his lands the nation of Shenzhou.
2110 - Shenzhou goes to war, capturing the lands that were Korea in a series of quick, bloody battles. The conquered territory is dubbed the province of Hanguo.
2170 - Shenzhou, now equipped with a navy, crosses the sea to conquer the island nation that becomes the province of Fushang.
2197 - XeroCorp captures three Vampires and begins their program to develop operatives with vampiric abilities. Project Batwing leads to the development of the Second Strain vampire virus.
2247 - A street preacher and political activist working under the psuedonym Vox gains a following among the poor and disenfranchised of Midcity. He and his followers call upon an end to the wage slavery and class disparity that dominates the city. He is joined by his second in command, Gamma, and together they lead the growing Collective Uprising movement by rallying the poor against the corporations.
2251 - Vox and Gamma are arrested on manufactured charges. Gamma is killed in custody. Mass rioting breaks out in Midnight City, and over six hundred people are killed. The government swiftly passes the Containment Act, establishing the Resident Protection Zone and dooming millions of Midnight City's poorest to an inescapable life in a violent slum. Vox is incarcerated, never to be heard from again.
2269 - 2275 - Mage Wars in Eastern Europe. The nation of Varangia, in testing a potential magical superweapon, inadvertantly kills 137 citizens of Nova Rossiya. In a region filled with barely restrained tension, this is the spark that ignites a room full of gasoline. Nova Rossiya declares war and begins exterminating anyone even suspected of using magic within Varangia's borders. It is a genocide.
2277 - Present Day
