Skills
Skills are unique abilities and bonuses that a player may select for their character from a pre-defined list. These may be special attacks usable in quests or duels, bonuses to damage or to hit, or unique class traits such as the ability to summon minions. Skills do NOT refer to the character's ability to perform mundane tasks, eg. athletics.
Each character has access to Class Skills (listed on each Class page) and General Skills. To learn a skill, a character must spend a Skill Point on that skill. They must also meet the prerequisites for that skill, which may be a minimum stat number, a minimum level, or knowing a certain different skill.

SKILL POINTS
Skill Points are used to learn skills. Every character starts off with 2 Skill Points at character creation. One skill point must be spent on a Class Skill, while the other must be spent on a General Skill.
A character earns a new skill point every other level, upon leveling up. A new skill point is earned at levels 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, and 19. At levels 5, 10, and 15, the character earns one additional skill point.
Earned skill points may be spent in either the Class Skills or the General Skills.
Skill Points are not used to level up skills. Once a skill is learned, there are no levels to it.
SKILL TREES
Some classes have Skill Trees listed in their Class Skills. These trees are merely general guidelines for certain character builds. Characters may mix and match between skill trees as they see fit, so long as they meet the prerequisites for each skill they wish to learn.
While characters can mix between their class's skill trees, characters may NOT learn skills from another class.
SKILL BONUS
Skills that give a bonus to roll for a particular action (example, bonus to hit when using pistols) scale with the character level according to the following table:
|
Level |
Bonus |
|---|---|
|
1 - 4 |
+2 |
|
5 - 8 |
+3 |
|
9 - 12 |
+4 |
|
13 - 16 |
+5 |
|
17 - 20 |
+6 |
Example
Joe has the Outlaw skill, which gives a bonus to using Pistols. When Joe is level 4, the Outlaw bonus is +2. When Joe levels up to level 5, the Outlaw bonus is now +3. This bonus is then added to his stat bonuses used for attacking with Pistols to get his total attack bonus.
