Downtime
When characters aren't participating in Quests and Duels, that doesn't mean all they're doing is sitting around at Lucky Sevens waiting for the next job. Downtime refers to activities outside of Quests and Duels that can be used to gain XP, money, and items. Your character could hold down an ordinary job to have some steady income in between mercenary runs, or maybe they dedicate their time to honing their skills mentally and physically. Perhaps they embark on their own adventures with their friends without waiting for an employer to dangle the next paycheque in front of them, or maybe they put their own unique skills to work for themselves.
Unlike pure Freeform RP, Downtime activities require a GM to review them in order to award experience/money/items. But, unlike Quests and Duels, they don’t need to be scheduled and can be engaged with as the players please.
The following rules discuss paragraph requirements. A paragraph for this purpose is defined as four sentences. If you post partial paragraphs, they can be combined to count for a full paragraph.
Note: anyone caught using generative chatbots to cheat this RP will be banned.

JOBS AND TRAINING
Job RP involves your character working an ordinary, “legitimate” (as legitimate as jobs get in Midnight City) job - taxi driver, bouncer, ER doctor. There is no set list of jobs, and players are encouraged to write what makes sense for their character.
Training RP involves your character doing something to better their attributes, knowledge, or skills - working out, sparring, studying a subject, learning how to fix an engine, and so on. Likewise there is no set list of training; as long as the activity makes sense as a means of dedicated improvement, players are free to come up with their own.
In order to earn ₾50 for Job RP or 50 EXP for Training RP, a minimum of 20 paragraphs must be written. This total doesn’t change regardless of how many people are participating. Therefore, the more people you have participating in a single session, the less everyone has to write. One writer must write 20 paragraphs, but two writers each write 10 paragraphs, three writers each write 7/7/6 paragraphs, and so on. You can do more than 20 paragraphs in a single session to earn more (in increments of 20), but 20 paragraphs is the minimum that you can submit. A paragraph is a minimum of 4 sentences.
This RP is capped at a maximum earning of 500 EXP per week and ₾500 per week. Note: not all players in a session need to be working towards the same reward. One player could be earning money while others earn EXP as long as it is justified by the scenario (ex. if one character is employed as a physical trainer and the other characters are clients).
This RP needs to be logged and submitted to staff in order for the participants to receive their rewards. If there are multiple characters participating in a single session, only one player needs to send in the logs for the whole group.
This RP is not intended to be boring, grinding RP! Use it as an opportunity to interact with others, developing your character and their bonds. Characters can socialize and develop their personal plots while doing these tasks or run into unexpected dangers.
MISSIONS
Missions allow your character to earn EXP and money at the same time. Unlike Job or Training RP, Missions carry some amount of risk and therefore require the character(s) to make a number of rolls in addition to writing paragraphs. They may be completed once per week.
Missions are structured in Phases. Each Phase has a required number of paragraphs to write, followed by a dice roll. The minimum number of Phases is 3, but if you want to take on more risk for potentially more reward, you can increase the number of phases which will increase the number and difficulty of rolls. Like Jobs and Training, the paragraph requirements are split between all participants, not per character.
If conducting a Mission with multiple characters, each character must make at least one roll. The maximum number of characters per Mission is 5. Even if you fail rolls during the Mission, you can still continue to the designated end phase. Failing on the final roll will still yield EXP, but no money, while a successful roll rewards all participants with EXP and money.

Missions can be posted by gangs, individuals, or even corporations through third parties and brokers. Missions can be any number of less-than-legal activities; bounty hunting, running protection, stealing an object, or guarding a warehouse full of questionable goods. The nature of the Mission is up to the players to decide, as long as it is thematically appropriate and can be made to fit in the below framework.
What has to happen in each Phase? That’s up to the players according to the Mission they’re doing. Phase I could involve research, acquiring gear, or planning. Phase II could involve scouting out a mission location, arriving at the scene, setting up traps, et cetera.
What type of roll is being made for each Phase? That is up to the players depending on the situation. A group of Virtuosos attempting to apprehend a bounty without a fight might make a charisma roll to persuade the target to come with them, or a disguise roll to prevent the target from IDing them as bounty hunters. Any bonuses from skills apply. Every roll made must be different, so you can’t simply pick your highest bonus and roll that for every check.
This RP needs to be logged and submitted to staff in order for the participants to receive their rewards. If there are multiple characters participating in a single session, only one player needs to send in the logs for the whole group.
