Experience + Levelling

Characters earn Experience Points (EXP) as they participate in quests, duels, jobs, individual story arcs, and so on. EXP is awarded by a GM and tallied on a character's sheet. Once a character earns enough EXP, they will advance to the next level. In roleplaying terms, EXP represents your character's accumulated street smarts, worldliness, and... well... experience.

LEVELLING UP

When a character levels up, they gain 5 points to distribute among their stats. Their HP and MP will also increase based on their END and WIL stats (see Stats page) at the time of levelling up.

Example:

Frank levels up. He has 31 END and 200 HP at the time of levelling up. After levelling up, he will have 240 HP because his END gives him +40 HP per level.

HP values are calculated before any other stat points are distributed. So if a character has enough points to reach the next tier on the END chart, the new value will not be added until their next level up.

Example:

Frank levels up. He has 39 END and 200 HP. He allocates his stat points to his END stat, bringing it up to 41. However, he still only gains 40 HP this level because the HP was calculated based on his having 39 END. He will gain 45 HP next level as it will be calculated based on his having 41 END.

Characters receive 1 point to allocate on their skill tree every other level (Level 1, 3, 5, 7, and so on). At levels 5, 10, and 15 they receive 1 additional point.

RETIRING CHARACTERS

When a character reaches Level 20 they are automatically retired. They may still be RPed in freeform and they can participate in quests, duels, and other events, but they will no longer earn EXP. If a quest or other event has a limited number of spaces, priority goes to non-retired characters. Retiring a character removes them from your total character count. Therefore you may create another character to replace them.
